About The York Brief

The York Brief is a free morning email that rounds up York's local news, Monday to Saturday at 7am. It takes about a minute to read over your first brew.

How it's made

Every morning we gather the day's York stories from trusted local sources, including YorkMix, The Press, BBC News, City of York Council and local events listings, and sum them up in plain English. Every item links to the original reporting, so you can read the full story and back the people who did the legwork.

We put the Brief together with the help of AI tools, and every issue is checked before it's sent. We get things wrong now and then. When we do, tell us and we'll put it right.

What you get

• The day's York news in one short email: council, transport, planning, business, culture and sport.
• What's on around the city, from the Minster to the Knavesmire.
• The Weekend Wrap Up every Saturday.
